Përparim Rama is a renowned Albanian architect and urbanism professional, who has been awarded with international prizes.
He was born on 20 January 1976, in Prishtina. At the age of 16 he moved to the UK. He started his first part of Bachelor’s degree studies in 1995 at the SBU “London Bank University” in Architecture, and completed in 1998. During the period 2001-2003 he continued the second part of his studies at the “University of East London”. After Bachelor studies, from 2003 he continued his studies in Master DipArch at the “University of East London”. He was chosen as the greatest Master by CECA “Center for Evolutionary Computing in Architecture”.
In 2012, at the Venice Architecture Biennale, Rama represented Kosovo for the first time in its history with the Pavilion “Filigree Worker”.
Përparim Rama is known for his commitment to the spatial planning of the Olympic Games in London, in 2012; for his commitment to building the vision of Doha, the capital of Qatar; for major projects in New York, Dublin, Basel, Prague, and all the way to Damascus of Syria.
In 2013, Përparim Rama together with his team won the first prize in the “World Interiors News Annual Award 2013”, whereby defeating 1,600 candidates from around the world.
Perparim Rama is also a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities of the Mayor
In accordance with the provisions of Law on Local Self-government and the Statute of the Municipality, the Mayor is responsible for the following:
a) represents and acts on behalf of the Municipality; b) leads the municipal government and its administration and conducts the financial administration of the municipality; c) exercises all competencies not explicitly assigned to the Municipal Assembly or its committees. d) executes the Municipal Assembly acts; e) appoints and dismisses his deputies; f) appoints and dismiss his Directors who assist him in discharging his duties; g) organizes the work and directs the policy of the municipality; h) proposes municipal regulations and other acts for the approval of Municipal Assembly; i) proposes municipal development, regulatory and investments plans; proposes the annual budget for the approval of the Municipal Assembly and executes the budget adopted; j) reports before the Municipal Assembly on the economic-financial situation and the implementation of the investment plans of the Municipality at least once every six months or as often as required by the Municipal Assembly; k) may request the Municipal Assembly only once to review a municipal act when he deems the act to violate the applicable legislation and/or the interests of communities; l) monitors general financial administration; m) Delegates responsibilities to the members of Board of Directors and monitors implementation of the delegated responsibilities; n) makes changes related to the functioning and the number of Directorates and its functions, in accordance with the applicable legislation; o) perform other responsibilities determined by the Municipal Assembly.
